FIVE CDC CELEBRATE 'HARMONY IN MOTION' In support of the People’s Association’s (PA’s) efforts to promote Racial Harmony, all the five Community Development Council (CDC) are coming together for the first time to organise the “CDC’ Harmony In Motion” Celebrations on 15 July 2006 at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) at the Empress Place. 2 Packed with numerous educational activities and cultural programmes, this interactive carnival aims to promote greater understanding and appreciation of our multi-cultural community. The CDC will also be partnering the ACM to bring this event to all Singaporeans. 3 Highlights of the event include: - A 1.5 km Racial Harmony Walk along the mouth of the Singapore River by about 3,000 residents from the five districts, dressed in ethnic costumes. Here, participants will get to visit many of Singapore’s historical sites such as the underground Moulana Mohammed Ali mosque, the Old and New Supreme Court and the Fullerton Hotel which is former Singapore General Post Office.
- A Gamelan[1] performance by the five guests-of-honour; and
- An outdoor SoundwaveS concert that offers an exhilarating multi-sensory experience of Singapore’s contemporary and traditional music and dance.
4 In addition, various CDC Racial Harmony programmes will be showcased at the event, ranging from the South East CDC’s Racial Harmony Youth Ambassadors to the North West CDC’s Brisk Walking Clubs. 5 Your journalist and photographer are cordially invited to the “CDC Harmony in Motion” Celebrations on Saturday, 15 July 2006 at 4.50 pm at Asian Civilisations Museum, Empress Place. The programme is at Annex.
