The Stars of Syawal is a new initiative of North East Community Development Council (CDC) and SSO@Tampines to reach out to Muslim religious organisations (ROs) to provide more support for isolated seniors living within the community.
Launched on 15 June, the programme has benefited 180 isolated seniors and low-income families referred from SSO@Tampines, as well as Zakat recipients.
Many partners came together to collaborate on board this meaningful event. 280 volunteers from the M3 network of mosques, namely Masjid Darul Ghufran, Masjid Al Islah, Masjid Alkaff Kampong Melayu came together to befriend the seniors, identify their needs and follow up with regular home visits. They were also supported by North East CDC’s dedicated befrienders, the Care Team @ North East & volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
