The North West Emergency Relief Fund was set up in January 2014 to provide timely assistance to needy residents in the North West District who require urgent and/or temporary financial relief to tide over their financial crisis.

In 2020, the scope of the North West Emergency Relief Fund was expanded to cover 14 emergency scenarios to help families and caregivers in dire state, who are affected by a broader range of emergencies. These include outbreak of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, death of sole breadwinner, household fire and other accidents occurring locally and overseas.

North West CDC identifies the beneficiaries jointly with the Welfare Committees in Grassroots Organisations, Social Service Agencies and/or Social Services Offices in the North West District.
