MARINE PARADE LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION (MPLF)

The Marine Parade Leadership Foundation (MPLF) is established in 2009 by Marine Parade GRC and Mountbatten SMC Advisers and Grassroots Leaders under the leadership of Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. It aims to create public awareness of the importance of community service, stimulate interest among youths to serve as volunteers and build a strong network of potential community leaders for the grassroots and voluntary sectors.

NextGen Leadership Programme (NGLP)

NGLP is the MPLF’s flagship programme, designed to support youths to discover their leadership potential. The 9-month mentorship programme will enable youths to develop their leadership capacities, project management and interpersonal skills, through a variety of trainings, local ground attachments and community project opportunities. Youth participants can expect to forge new friendships, impact their communities and have fun doing it.

Leadership Learning Academy (LLA)

Newly developed in 2016 to nurture community leaders of the future, LLA focuses on three key pillars – Community Leadership, Community Immersion and  Service Learning. To further enhance their leadership capabilities, youth will be exposed to various community issues, experiential learning, and engagement opportunities with other youth leaders on multiple platforms. In addition, youths who are inspired to do more for the community through new initiatives can apply for seed funding.

NextGen Leadership Awards (NLA)

Launched in 2010, the NextGen Leadership Awards is one of MPLF’s efforts to promote community leadership and volunteerism among youth from schools, GROs and VWOs within Marine Parade GRC, Mountbatten SMC and MacPherson SMC. The two awards for schools and grassroots are namely the Goh Chok Tong NextGen Outstanding Student Leader Award and NextGen Young Community Leader Award.

Through this platform, the Foundation hopes to shine the spotlight on youths who have exhibited passion, initiative and dedication in their role as student leaders, community leaders and active volunteers so that other youths can be inspired to lead and serve. All award recipients will be given opportunities to further enhance their leadership potential and capabilities to serve the community as well as access support for community initiatives.
